In case you don't know, despite the fact that I'm almost 30, people often think I'm way younger than my age. However, it's not like I'm immune to anti-aging products, because like most women in my age, I also use it in the daily basis because that's the best thing I could do to my face.
Also, apparently when people mistaking you to be younger, most of the time you just want to take it as a compliment and you just can't help but smile about it. But honestly, I believe the secret weapon lies beyond creams and serums. Incorporating supplements that support cellular health has made a huge difference for me, both inside and out! After all, healthy cells lead to a healthy, youthful glow, right?  So while I appreciate the compliments, I'll gladly share my little secret if you're curious!
As I've joined some forum and groups where people mostly discuss about beauty and skincare, I figure there are some people who legit started using anti-aging products when they were teenagers.
Well, while some of you probably try to figure out when is the best time to start or consider using anti-aging products, I suppose I can share a bit of my beauty journey here.
Why Anti-Aging Products?
I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to anti-aging products, but I think the first time I thought about using anti-aging was when I saw Gong Li's L'Oreal commercial. Gong Li was in her 40s back then and she looked absolutely stunning in the commercial, while my mom who is actually younger than her looks just like… mom.
Now that I think about it, that was such an unfair judgment since Gong Li has money while all my mom got is me. 😛
But then after watching the ad, I started thinking about using anti-aging products. So, for this article I'm trying to find a legit answer why anti-aging products are needed, if not must-have.
And apparently, as I read an interview with a dermatologist on Stylecaster, and the dermatologist suggested us to start anti-aging creams and serum in the first two decades of life, which means our 20s as the cumulative sun damage and our genetics could fasten the premature aging for our skin.
And therefore, the using of sun protection and serums will make a big difference when we start early.
I legit had this kind of sandals from Be-Bob back in the days. LOL
Your Consideration on Using Anti-Aging Products
As for this, I'd rather share my own journey as this might be helpful for some of you wou might consider using anti-aging products anytime soon.
Personally, I started using anti-aging products in my early 20s, as soon as I graduated from college. Why? And just because I started using it then, does that mean you should do too? Let's find out!
1. Ask yourself whether you really need it.
So now you know that I considered using anti-aging cream because of Gong Li. However, the reason why I actually started using it was simply as I started using makeup on the daily basis.
After graduating from college, I got a job in an airlines where I have to wear makeup everyday. And that's when I thought that using anti-aging products was no longer recommended, but it was also mandatory.
The thing is, I understand that girls nowadays wear makeup earlier than I did. So, I think it's good to consider using it when you start wearing makeup in the daily basis as well. After all, better start early than it's too late, right? 🙂
2. Find the best anti-aging product that is most suitable for your skin.
My first anti-aging product was from Garnier. It was the very first night cream that I used, and it worked well on the first try so I used it for quite some time. That, until I decided to consult with a dermatologist and I changed all my skincare as per their suggestion.
As I lived in Semarang back then, I was a loyal customer of Hayfa Skin Care and they absolutely did the magic to my face. I did all the skincare regime from their brand, as well as completed their facial series at least once a month until I had to relocate as I quit the job in Semarang.
So, when I moved to Jeddah, I decided to go back to the drugstore product, and at the time I just tried to find the most affordable product in the supermarket, and they've got this package of Olay which include facial wash, day cream and night cream. I bought that one until I decided to return back home, and that was when I had some trouble with my skin.
I don't know whether it was a big deal, but I bought what's supposed to be the same product in Indonesia, but the effect is 100% different as pimples came up out of nowhere and it was spread to my whole face. It was so annoying and absolutely disturbing so then I decided to consult with the dermatologist again. This time, with the actual problem on my face.
I used Auraku for around for 3 years until just recently I decided to try more natural products. One of my considerations is that I honestly feel not as young as I used to be, and I figure I don't have as much time as when I lived in Bandung to consult with the dermatologist periodically. So I decided to use the natural one, in which they claim it's safe for even the preggo.
I mean, eventually I want to have a kid on my own so maybe it's the right time to use something that is safe when I am pregnant. It's been a couple of months since I use Roro Mendut skincare regime, the anti-aging variant with mangosteen skin as the main ingredient.
So far, it's suitable for my skin so I figure that I'll stick to it for until whatever reason that comes up next. 🙂
3. Like it or hate it, it's true when they say you are what you eat.
Metabolism is real, buddies!
In the past, I had never really complained about gaining weight until recently. Once you hit some certain age, everything you eat will actually reflect eventually. No kidding, be it through your body mass or your skin condition.
I'm not exactly a sugar tooth, but being Indonesian as I am, I basically couldn't live without rice and I'm a big fan of Teh Kotak, a boxed beverage that you simply MUST try if you ever come to Indonesia.
Guess what? The things that were once never a problem, it is now. Not only did I start gaining weight, but I also got some pimples as a living proof. And when I got curious and googled how to tell the health problem through zits, and guess what I found? I need to eat less sugar. *lol*
Truth be told, at some point in your life, you'll realize that anti-aging is not just that night serum or anti-wrinkle creams that get you jealous of Gong Li. When you hit what I did recently, you'd understand that sometimes aging is an undeniable situation, thanks to your fatass craving for sugar. 😛
4. If needed, you might also want to take some additional supplements.
You see, in case you haven't noticed, we live in an era where you can find any kind of food and vitamins. From some dodgy supplement to even some superfood that promises you A to Z.
Some might work, some might not. But if you're interested to try some supplements, especially those that are related to anti-aging, it won't hurt to try either.
Back in the days, I consumed Natur-E once a day. I don't take it anymore, but I know there are so many vitamins and supplements that you might want to opt. From Vitamin E to collagen, it's all out there. You might as well want to check some of them for your reference on Estheticshub.com.
