Top 5 Things to Do in Chattanooga, TN

Located in southeastern Tennessee, Chattanooga is a city that’s well worth your attention. Its position at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains makes it a scenic paradise, while its rich history also paves the way for some compelling attractions.

Exactly what is there to see and do here, though? Well, if you’re planning a visit to the area, these are the things you’ll want to prioritize.

Chattanooga Choo Choo

The Chattanooga Choo Choo isn’t just a song; it’s also a terminal station that’s been renovated into a vacation complex. The 1940s tune was actually what inspired people to invest in the station back in the ‘70s and provide visitors with comfortable accommodation, delicious dining establishments, and plenty of live music.

If you don’t stay here during your travels, at the very least, you need to browse the retail outlets and have dinner in one of their restaurants. There’s nothing quite like enjoying modern conveniences in wonderfully retro establishments.

Hunter Museum Of American Art

A visit to the Hunter Museum of American Art will leave you in no doubt that Chattanooga has one of the most thriving art scenes in the southeast.

Collected here are some of the most compelling works ever created, with their origins spanning across the globe. Although the museum itself isn’t the biggest that Tennessee has to offer, it makes up for that with a portfolio you can’t afford to miss.

Ruby Falls

Chattanooga is an incredibly scenic city, and when it comes to gorgeous views, Ruby Falls doesn’t disappoint. It’s one of the most stunning natural attractions in Chattanooga thanks to its incredible waterfall located deep within Lookout Mountain.

Whether you wish to explore the trail that takes you to the falls, or you’d prefer to get the adrenaline pumping on the zipline, it’s easy to enjoy yourself here. Plus, with the views offered up on Lookout Mountain Tower, you’ll get to see Chattanooga at its finest.

Rock City

If you’re in Chattanooga to see the views, then a trip to Rock City should also be on your list of places to visit. Perched high up over the city, you can see as many as seven different states from this vantage point. Where else can afford you such an incredible sightseeing opportunity?

If you can handle crossing a 180-foot long suspension bridge, scaling a wall, and exploring caverns, then you’ll really get to make the most of everything this attraction has to offer.

Southern Belle Riverboat

Designed like a classic American steamer (although built far more recently), the Southern Belle is one of the best ways t explore what sights Chattanooga has to offer.

You can enjoy a two-hour cruise on this boat, complete with food and live entertainment, as you slowly traverse the Tennessee river. Given how scenic the city is, a sightseeing tour like this is definitely worthwhile, especially because you get to just sit back and relax for several hours.

An itinerary filled with these attractions is one that will definitely keep you busy, and this isn’t even everything that Chattanooga has to offer. Visit the scenic city, and you’ll see that for yourself.
