3 Ways to Look After Your Holiday Finances

Before you jet off on your vacation this year, you need to make sure you plan everything regarding your finances.

Whether you're planning a holiday in the sun, going on a backpacking trip around Europe or booking a tour style holiday, you want to make sure you have your holiday finances ticked off and looked after.

Let's have a look at some of the things you should be looking at!

Sort Out Travel Insurances

Realistically you should be organizing your travel insurance the moment that you book your holiday.

Many people get confused into thinking that the travel advisor or online company are trying to con you out of extra money, however, it will be your security for if the travel company were to go bust or if you were unable to travel because of being ill.

Travel insurance is surprisingly cheap, especially when you look at what it covers you for. It will cover you for things such as cancelled bookings, getting you home in an emergency and medical treatments you might need while abroad.

There should be no excuse for not getting this ticked off as soon as you book your break.

Visas, Passports and Vaccinations

These are three of the most important things that you need to think about financially for your holiday.

You should check your passport for its condition and how long it has to remain, if it needs replacing get this sorted ASAP, otherwise you could risk paying out more for an emergency passport appointment.

Some countries require you to prepurchase a VISA whilst others will expect you to pay on entry, however, you still need to budget for both so it's best to research the cost of this before traveling.

You should also check to see if you need any vaccinations before you fly, you don't have to pay for all vaccinations but there are certain ones you do if you're a family traveling this can turn into a hefty expense.

Spending Money

The amount of spending money that you take with you is going to depend on the style of the holiday that you have booked, the activities you want to do and where you are traveling.

For example, if you have booked an all-inclusive break then you're not going to need as much in your budget for things like food and drink.

If you want to do any day trips, you need to decide whether you're going to book them whilst you are there or are you going to prebook things like day trips from Galway?

Often pre-booking can save you money, but you still need to consider it in your budget. If you're thinking about going on day trips or activities, do some research beforehand so you know what sort of prices to expect.

You should also do the same with regards to your food and drink, have a look at the average prices in the destination you are traveling to so you can gather an idea of how much each day will cost you.

These three areas are essential for keeping on top of your holiday finances and budgeting correctly. Do you have any other tips or things that you should consider when planning your holiday budget? Please share them in the comments.
