How to Doll Up Fashionably When You’re a Plus-Size Woman

If you asked me five years ago, I would say I couldn't relate to the plus-size hype because I didn't think I'm one of those plus-size women. At the very least, I think I'm more like a medium kind of plus-size woman if that makes sense.

But there's one thing that I can always relate when it comes to being a plus-size woman: I'm a curvy woman with big boobies. I always have this anxiety when I have to wear a babydoll dress because it makes me look like I'm expecting when I barely even have regular sex. LOL.

Now, I think I could relate more to plus-size women in general, as I probably gained 10 kilograms ever since I quit my full-time job and started working from home. With all the coronavirus going on and having to stay at home most of the time, neither did it help me get back to my former body shape.

As if it's not hard enough, the thing about being in an Asian household is the fact that your relatives keep commenting on your body changes whenever they meet you after a while. Comments which I usually reply with sass like this is how I get when I'm happy, and I've got a lot of money.

So now that I think it's more legit to speak out on behalf of the plus-size women out there, I'd like to take a minute to share with you some fashion tips when you are one. Needless to say, I think we're quite lucky to live in a period where there are so many plus-size models on Instagram that we could look up to.

So, what are the tips for dolling up fashionably for plus-size women? Here are my two cents!

“At the end of the day, we are trying to feel comfortable in any type of size – plus size or not.”

Fashion Tips for Plus-Size Women

I suppose it would sound cliche to remind you to love your body at this point. Still, confidence is really the primary key to rocking out the fashion world no matter what size you are.

Look, Ashley Graham wouldn't go this far with her body if she didn't feel good about herself just because some jerks telling her to lose weight. So if you don't have that confidence yet with your current body shape, gain it first.

Only then, you will be able to showcase your fashion style as a plus-size! 😉

1. Wear clothes that fit and make you feel good at every size.

Now, everyone has their own style and that's for sure. There's always a piece of clothing that makes you feel good about yourself, and the answer to this could differ according to your signature style.

For me, I feel like I could never go wrong with anything with skirts. Be it a dress or a mix and match with my favorite skirt of any kind.

But hey, with big boobies comes great responsibility… LOL. So that's why I always pay attention when I pick the top. While I love loose t-shirts, I have to admit that sometimes I need to show off what's good about my body, and that's why I am quite specific when it comes to choosing the right blouse for my fashion sense.

I always love a basic top that is skin-tight with neutral colors like black, grey, or beige. It goes well with my skin, and it's relatively easy to mix and match with my favorite skirts. And it can never be too dull since you can also mix and match with your favorite pants or even skort.

My personal win is when I can find cheap wholesale plus size clothing that can go well with everything I stand for!

2. Accept your body, and style it accordingly.

Some misogynist would say that a fat woman should never wear skin-tight clothing in any circumstances. I would say they're always wrong. However, when it comes to this issue, I think there's something they need to know before opening their dirty mouth: people process differently to gain their confidence.

Sometimes, it has something to do with the trauma that we received in the past that makes us do the things we do this way.

I remember I got bullied because of my big boobies when I was in high school. At the time, it killed my young heart. But now that I'm in my 30s and I no longer have to deal with those assholes, I see what I lost then became the thing that makes me win.

Why should I be ashamed that I have big boobs when people literally spend millions of dollars to upsize their bra size?

These days, whenever people remind me that they could see my cleavage, I'd tell them that they're lucky to see it instead of feeling bad about myself. But not everyone works that way.

Some others would choose to cover up, because that's how it makes them feel better. Whatever makes you feel good about your body, do it and try to give less of fuck.

3. Everyone needs some good shapewear sometimes.

No one's perfect. But you can always look like it with some good shapewear. I mean, even some models you see on TV got to photoshop their pictures sometimes because of their beer belly or something.

While it's not something that you should be ashamed of, often what makes us feel good about ourselves is when we look close to perfect. And when you're anxious about your body, shapewear is a must-have!

Plus-size women have their curves to show. And you can't run nor hide from it, because it's what makes you stand out. Shapewear helps you to do it.

It goes well with a bodysuit. While a bodysuit enhances the beauty of your curves, the shapewear makes it perfect like no other!

4. Rock that pencil skirt!

Pencil skirt is my favorite fashion item that I think I've always had since I was in my early 20s. It's a gem when I feel like dressing up, and it's quite easy to mix and match with just a basic blouse.

For a plus-size woman, pencil skirts are a must-have item as it enhances your body shape. Show off those curves, ladies!

And if you feel like adding up some accessories, you can easily add a belt to accentuate your waistline. And hey, if you're a lady with some good ol' ass and sass, a pencil skirt would work like magic!

5. You can never go wrong with a wrap dress.

You heard that right, wrap dress can save your time to think about what to wear because not only it looks good on you… It's also super comfortable to wear, and you can even experiment with your favorite shoes or bag. Once everything is added, it's showtime, baby!

As I told you, we're so lucky to live in this century where there are more and more options to choose when it comes to fashion. These days, finding plus size dresses wholesale is just one click away!

And you can find options in every color and size possible!

While it works best during the summer, you can always try to mix and match your favorite dress to be suitable for the winter. Add some leggings and your favorite coat, and you're set to go!

But then again, all these tips are nothing unless you come to the stage of acceptance of yourself and your body shape.

So chin up, get out there and rock your style and show that off to the world!

So, those are the fashion tips that I have for all of you plus-size ladies out there… Do you have anything to add? Share your two cents in the comment, and cheerio! 🙂
