Review: Hotel Boss – Singapore

Frankly speaking, I have this love-and-hate relationship with Singapore.

As an Indonesian, of course everything I see in Singapore somehow looks so sophisticated to the point that sometimes I find myself in disbelief to see how organized everything is in this city state that took only around 1.5 hours flight away from Jakarta.

But as a part of ASEAN ‘Big Brother’, staying in Singapore could be a pain in the ass because honestly, everything is so expensive there!

From the food I bought from the street vendor to the hotel I stayed for layover, everything in Singapore was almost 5 times more expensive than in Jakarta. *sigh*

For those of you who are not familiar with my traveling style, my traveling style was quite simple although maybe quite complicated for some people.

I carry my trolley bag everywhere, and I am definitely not a light traveler. But despite all the ‘jet set’ look during my travel, I usually choose a lower cost (if not cheapest!) hotel or guest house that I could find for my accommodation. I don’t expect much for it, I’ll be fine with it as long as it has a private room with attached bathroom.

And such accommodation, I couldn’t find it in Singapore! -_-

Hotel Boss in Singapore is one of the few hotels that fits my budget and travel style the last time I went to Singapore for business purpose.

As I had a public holiday before my schedule to work from Singapore office, I decided to come to Singapore earlier and stay in my own expenses for a day.

Located not so far from Lavender MRT station, the location is quite convenient to reach from Changi Airport. We could just walk for around 5 minutes from the station, and all staff were really helpful!

With SGD 118/night for a superior double room, I think it was quite competitive rate in Singapore with the facilities provided. Swimming pool and free wi-fi are available, although breakfast is excluded for this rate.

Table of Content

Pros:

  • The location is very strategic, as not only Lavender MRT Station is only walking distance from the hotel, but it is also not so far from my office that is located around Bugis.
  • The city view from the hotel room is quite scenic that makes it so instagrammable. :p
  • I tell you what, this Hotel Boss is a 3-star hotel with a 5-star services!
  • Value for money, Singapore-wise. Haha.

Cons:

  • The wall is rather thin as I could still hear the housekeeper vacuuming the next room.

Rate:

8 out of 10, I suppose. This hotel is worth the price as the service offered to the guests exceeded my expectation.

If you are looking for an accommodation that is convenient with lower price in Singapore, I’d totally recommend Hotel Boss as this hotel is suitable for visitors with both business and leisure purpose.

Bugis area in Singapore is well-known as the central business district. But other than that, it is quite close to Haji Lane and Bugis Street that are also considered as tourist attractions.

So either you’re a tourist or businessman who needs a transit in Singapore, Hotel Boss will be the best option for you if you prioritize convenience over everything.

Cheerio! 😉
