Long before I made my way to visit Bali, I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about the three small islands around the province: Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. The only misleading terms that I’ve heard are that some people refer to them as “Nusa islands”.
Here’s the thing… Nusa itself literally means island in Sanskrit, both Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan are small islands that are still parts of Bali province. They are currently under the subdistrict of Klungkung regency, the smallest regency in the province. And yes, I’m fun at the party because there are times when I just have to be politically correct about some trivia! 😛
The three islands have gained popularity in the past few years, and it’s not without reason that they have. First, the local people really appreciate the effort of the current government to promote the tourism in the area. And since it’s quite recent since they came to the surface of Bali tourism, the islands are less touristy than the main Bali island.
So, when I finally planned out to visit Nusa Penida, I found out one thing about the island that kinda turned me off: Nusa Penida tour is freaking expensive!
