Strolling Around the Jungle as a Female Solo Traveler: 2 Days 1 Night at Bako National Park

When I first planned out my Borneo trip itinerary, I was a bit conflicted about the places that I wanted to visit. Since Borneo is known as the Emerald of the Equator, I knew that I wanted to focus on enjoying nature on the trip.

When I consulted with Suzie about my trip to Brunei, she recommended Ulu Temburong for the nature part. She even sent me the link of some Korean TV show about traveling to Brunei. According to her, I could follow their itinerary with Ulu Temburong included.

Unfortunately, when I checked the price of the tour package to Temburong, it was freaking expensive! Like, to join a 2D1N tour in Temburong, it costs almost $200 and I simply couldn’t afford it. 🙁

So, as an alternative, I tried to find some nature destinations in Malaysian part of Borneo. I’ve got several options in the firsthand, with Gunung Mulu, Niah Caves and Bako to choose. Long story short, I decided to choose to go to Bako National Park instead.

3 Interesting Museums to Visit While in Kuching, Sarawak

If you come across my blog when you’re trying to find a perfect itinerary that is some kind of tour packaging-like, then you might want to skip it. Although feel free to still skim read the post to see what I’ve got below to avoid the increasing number of my blog’s bounce rate! 😛

Anyway, I know there’s a lot of museums in Kuching but then during my 5-day stay in the city, I only managed to visit 3 museums that I’ll talk about on this post.

The museums that I’ve visited in Kuching here is quite close to my accommodation at Woodpecker Lodge. Bonus point as some of them is free that I feel like I have no reason to not stopping by to check what’s there.

Woodpecker Lodge Kuching, Sarawak: Where to Stay Comfortably on Budget in The Cat Town (The Review)

It wasn’t because I’ve claimed myself a cat lady when I decided to stay in Kuching for the longest period compared to the other cities I’ve visited during my Borneo trip.

Well, maybe it’s one of the reasons. However, I already planned to go to stay overnight at Bako National Park on my last day in the city. I didn’t really want to have a tight schedule during my trip this time, so I decided to book the accommodation in Kuching for 4 nights.

At first, I really wanted to have a nice and rather ‘fancy’ accommodations for the whole stay. You know, with elevator and everything. However, when I calculated the whole budget for 4 nights, the ‘fancy’ one would exceed my budget.

My other consideration is that I had to leave my big bag there for one night after I checked out, as I had to go to Bako. Before I made a booking, I dropped an email to some accommodation to confirm whether there’s any additional charge for luggage storage service.

Long story short, I ended up booking a room at Woodpecker Lodge in Kuching.
