Review: Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect / Lucky Puppy Case Collection

Hello, the beautravelers! 😀

It's been awhile since the last time I actually wrote a post related to beauty section on my blog, but anyway… I owe a post on this Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect to April Magazine. It's about time since it's April and the magazine is probably named after this month!

So, in case you're not familiar with April Magazine, it is an online magazine of East & South East Asian women like me. And their mission is very clear: to promote role models, to share ideas, and to raise the voices of Asian women in the English media scene.

And in case you think that it is exclusively for Asian women, then you're wrong…

Because even if you're not an Asian woman, they believe that listening to our stories will help us to grow further. So, check out April Magazine if you want to find out more about the stories of Asian women in general! Please help us to remove the stigma or anything that is way too stereotypical for Asian women. 🙂

Okay, so it's long overdue but I won their giveaway in February, my birthday month. And just like some of you probably could guess, the giveaway is this Etude House Any Cushion!

Since I'm honestly not really familiar with K-beauty products, I really thought that this Etude House Lucky Puppy Any Cushion is this infamous product that most women talk about in the beauty section. The sponged liquid foundation to make it short.

I never tried the product from any brand before, so I was really happy when I won it. Especially as it comes with a puppy packaging to mark the Chinese New Year this year: the dog year. 😀

Etude House Lucky Puppy Any Cushion

When I opened the package sent from South Korea (where April Magazine is currently based), it came with two things: the cushion and the case. And the one with the puppy packaging turns out to be the case separately from the cushion. Right there, false alarm! 😛

Yes, it comes with some direction on how to apply the cushion on the case, but if you know me personally then you'd probably know by now that I wouldn't dare to try to put the inner container in the case.

Why? Because I'm so clumsy, and it's like everything I touch, it's falling apart. And I don't want my new cushion to fall apart. 🙁

Anyway, it took so long for me to actually write about this review for 2 reasons: (1) Because I was in Jakarta in the first half month of March, and the package was delivered to my address in Bandung, and (2) Because I know writing a beauty product review is not really my strength because I'm quite bad at taking the photos so I was a bit hesitant to start it.

But anyway, let's do it! 😉

My First Impression of Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect and Lucky Puppy Cushion Case

Before April Magazine sent me the package, we had a short correspondence and they asked the shade that I'd like them to send me. They asked me to check the options here, so I chose the N04 or Natural Beige.

I mean, I've never really tried any cushion before, and I'm not really sure about the shade as more often than not, what's in the picture could come up really different in the real thing.

The shade of Etude House Any Cushion: N04 Natural Beige.

When I received it, the shade of cushion comes off alright. Although it's probably one level lighter than my skin color. But when I tried it the first time, the shade works just fine so I'm pretty happy with the product.

As for the lucky puppy case collection, I really love the design but at the same time, I don't trust myself to try removing the inner container from the cushion so now I really just use the case as my emergency mirror. 😛

I've checked on Etude House's official website, the cushion alone costs around $24 USD, and the case is $12 USD. I don't normally use any beauty product that costs that much since most of the products I use are from the local brand, so I think I'm pretty lucky to win the giveaway! 😀

My Final Verdict on Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect

Left to right: (1) my raw face 😛 (2) after I used the cushion (3) with makeup.

Ouch, now you know how I look like with my bare face! 😐

But anyway, the product claims to have SPF50+, PA+++ (despite the fact that I don't know what the heck that means *lol*), and according to the things written on the side of the packaging: perfect cover, smooth touch, absolutely long-lasting. Is it true, though?

(+)

  • Despite the shade that is a little light on my skin, it still works perfectly fine on my face although it couldn't cover the fact that I've been exhausted since 2012. Hello, eye bag! 😛
  • The compact packaging comes in pretty handy if you want to take this with you as you travel. It comes with a really nice puff, and as what is written on the packaging, it is actually smooth touch.

(-)

  • Unfortunately, I think I've got more minus than plus for this product. The first thing would be, it is probably not that suitable for me who's got an oily face as it ended up looking a bit cakey after awhile if that even makes sense.
  • I used the cushion for when I attended my university's alumni event for around 8 hours, and it started to break. Especially since I wear glasses, and the part where I was wearing my glasses broke pretty badly.
  • This is my first time to use a cushion, and now I'm not too sure whether it's the cushion or it's the fact that I didn't know to use it correctly. But I feel like I'm not really comfortable using it. As for this one, I honestly prefer the liquid foundation better.
  • So pricey! 🙁

Okay, so maybe I'm not really a fan of this Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect. I mean, this looks alright in the beginning until it takes a few hours and it starts to break. Despite the compact packaging that is suitable to travel, I don't think this would be a great go-to for when I travel since I usually take the whole day to explore the place.

I'd rather go bare face than have some creamy texture sticking on my face that is not jizz 😛 . I'm not sure if it's just this cushion or there's some other cushion that work hopefully better than this, but I'm still hailing for the liquid foundation. Conservative at its best. 😛

Repurchase or nah?

I don't think so.

I mean, not so many K-beauty products that are suitable for my skin. I've tried a few, and the only things that work just fine for me are just some BB and CC cream, as well as some blush on. I mean, the skin care products work just fine, but not really the makeup product though.

Besides, the price for the product kinda exceeds my budget, so like I said, I probably would choose liquid foundation until I find some other cushion that works better than this. So far, I prefer local beauty products that don't cost me a lot of money, sooo…  🙂

Have you ever tried this product? How's your take on this Etude House Any Cushion All Day Perfect? Or if you've got any recommendation for the cushion that you've tried and works better, please do let me know in the comment section. Cheerio! 😀

  1. This is actually my first time to hear about cushion foundation… i have different cushion in mind hehe..
I have to be honest.. i’m a guy and i seldom use cosmetics so I am not really familiar wuth most of them… my sister however is a big fan and she has a huge collection of lipsticks of different colors and shades and i cannot even tell a difference…
Although i can tell that their packaging is really neat and cute.

  2. I love Etude House! But i haven’t tried this one yet. It looks promising. Lately, eversince the summer started, i shy away from cushions and other powders. Im so oily but then there are times that my skin tends to become dry esp. when its airy. I have a weird skin type. But i would love to try this soonest!

  3. I don’t remember trying this brand. But the covers look so cute. 🙂 Congratulations for winning in the giveaway.

What struck me in your post the most was the April magazine. I wonder if it’s possible for me to be featured there. 🙂

  4. you could totally try to contact them, maybe start on their facebook first. because i know they’re very much welcome to feature any woman in the region, as well as the local business around the area as well. 🙂

  5. Honesty is always the best policy! Not only in life but also in reviews and blog posts like this. Even if I’m not a fan of this brand, I find your review very raw and true to yourself. That is what other bloggers forget, staying true to the prime reason they started blogging. The packaging looks okay, especially since there’s a puppy in the cover! Haha! Btw, congrats on winning!

  6. I use Etude but I only use their lipsticks and eyeshadows. I think their foundations are more suited to porcelain skinned people like Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese. So, it really is better to use local products as a foundation. I personally find my skin looking better when I just apply CC cream. I don’t like my skin looking cakey after some time.

  7. Not so familiar with the product. A first time to read about cushion foundation. I couldn’t even see the difference it gives but it is still good to read about this. Gives me ideas about other things not truly my interest just yet but may be useful to me in the long run.

  8. I may have not heard about this product, but you’ve elucidated it very well that made me probably search for more about this as I’m looking for a perfect gift for my girl friend. I love how you actually written your review and even showed us some of the before and after look of yours while using the product. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

  9. I was actually going to try a cushion but I heard from a lot of my friends that have tried that they didn’t really like it as well. I think maybe it’s not so suitable for our weather – compared to Korea. But maybe I’ll still give it a try hehe. Although I also saw that they’re quite priceyyyy 🙁

    1. i think if you’re planning to try a cushion, better try the one from a local brand. it seems like pretty much similar with some formula suitable for our skin and weather condition. also, the cushion from local brand is not as expensive as some high-end product. should be alright. 😉

  10. For someone who thinks doing make-up review is not right up her alley, I think you nailed this one. You gave a detailed description of the product as well a good depiction of how it went when you used it. I am not much into make-up and cannot apply these lot to save my life, but you give me a bird’s eye view of what this particular product is all about. And, I agree, something that breaks or turns cakey after a few hours isn’t much of a go-to beauty product especially for someone on-the-go.
