Generalist vs Specialist: Which One is Better When You’re a Blogger or a Freelancer?

For those who know me personally, you probably know which one I am. I’m a generalist inside and out. I’m the kind of person who probably knows something about everything.

One minute I could talk about sports, the next thing you know we’d engage in a conversation about politics. That’s what I am.

I speak 4 languages, when God knows I can’t speak any of them properly on a more formal occasion since I use all of them for casual conversation only. Just yesterday, I had a hard time explaining what “engagement” means in Indonesian while later on, I couldn’t tell the word my mom said in Sundanese, which is ironically my first language.

The idea of writing about this generalist vs specialist came when I decided to hire more assistants to help me with this blog. Yup, The BeauTraveler now has a team of 6 including me!

The hiring process made me realize that I really am a jack of all the trades, yet master of none. I ran this blog all by myself, but there are some details that I barely even know exactly how it works. I help clients with Instagram engagement, yet I barely even upgrade my knowledge about it.

Updating Your Travel Blog During Covid-19: Why I Still Update Mine Despite the Travel Ban All Over the World

Lately, I’ve seen a question that has been asked often within travel bloggers community. It is the question about whether or not we should update our travel blog during Covid-19, since we basically can’t travel these days.

Honestly, this kind of question is usually the question that I wouldn’t bother to check the answer. Why? Because the answer is usually more about the responder’s perspective, rather than an exact formula. I personally think that the question shouldn’t be asked to begin with, because after all… It’s your blog. You can do anything you want, as long as you know the risk.

So, even though some fellow bloggers find it frowned upon to still update my blog with travel articles, today I’m going to write about why I decide to still update mine despite all the travel bans.

Here’s why.

The Diary of a Quarantine Queen: My Daily Activity as a Lazy Yet Productive Lady During the Pandemic

Before you read further, just know that this is not the right post if you’re looking for a recipe. In fact, I got an idea to write this post because I figure there must be someone somewhere who’s pretty much like me during this quarantine period. A person with no talent for cooking or baking who isn’t yet interested in Tiktok either.

But heyyyy, just because I never post what I make in the kitchen or show off my dancing talent through my social media, it doesn’t mean that I’m not productive. If anything, I just told my mom that instead of making a baking content to share on Instagram, I’d rather work so that I can order delicious food online.

If there’s one thing I am thankful for this quarantine, I think it’s my situation. I know some people who got laid off during this difficult period, and I’m glad that I’m currently in the position where I can share a little piece of my fortune to those in need these days.

Anyway, in this post I actually want to share my day-to-day life as a lazy person. I can’t for the love of me remember when was the last time I did my exercise, I even told my cousin and my brother that with my lifestyle, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day I’d die from a heart attack.

But if that’s what happens, just know that I don’t regret it because I’m living a happy, productive life.

Blog Trial and Error: What Works and What Doesn’t Throughout My Blogging Journey

Hi everyone!

I figure it’s been a while since the last time I wrote something related to blogging. I just deactivated my Indonesian blog and I’m currently in the mood to talk about my blog trial and error. I’ve been blogging for forever, but I only took blogging seriously (and not for the sake of journaling or ranting) since 3 years ago.

Now that I decided to deactivate my Indonesian blog, it’s obvious that there’s something about it that doesn’t work to my liking. So, here I am writing about the blog trial and error that I’ve done throughout my blogging journey in the past few years.

Besides, during this difficult time in the quarantine, I know some people might run out of the ideas to kill the boredom. Well, you might as well consider starting a blog to spend in your free time. So, what’s up with blogging this time?
