Happy International Beer Day!

Wait, do you even know that today is actually International Beer Day? If you don’t, then just know that there’s such a thing like International Beer Day and it’s celebrated around the world… This Friday!

As a beer enthusiast myself, beer is one of the alcoholic drinks that I can’t simply say no whenever I get offered. More especially when I travel overseas.

It’s the only drink with alcohol that makes me feel like I’m a responsible drinker. Anything stronger than beer, and I start rambling about my life problem. God knows why I am like this. LOL.

After we covered Haarlem a couple of months ago, I’m so glad that I’ve finally got a chance to cover the capital city of the Netherlands: Amsterdam!

Coming from Indonesia, the country that was formerly known as the Dutch Indies, Amsterdam has become one of the major holiday destinations for Indonesians. And even if you’re not from Indonesia like I am, Amsterdam is still one of the most popular cities to visit in Europe.

From their well-known canals to even the infamous red district, Amsterdam has a lot of reasons why it should be listed in your next travel destination.

What You Could Get in Haarlem for $10 – Experience the Real Dutch Culture in the Less Touristy City

Hi everyone!

Here’s the thing, I’ve got a plan to finally go to Europe maybe next year. In fact, I’ve been saving up for this since enough money in my bank account is necessary in order to get the Schengen visa. You know, Indonesian passport holder problem.

Speaking of which, I heard the easiest way to apply for Schengen visa in Indonesia is through the Dutch embassy. I don’t have any plan yet to stop by the Netherlands quite yet, but I’m considering it. And just when I’m considering it, Lisa from Flip Flop Globetrotters reached out to cover the first city in the Netherlands for our very own $10 series.

Not Amsterdam, but it is definitely not so far from the capital city… It’s Haarlem.

Or as my friend Keshia said sarcastically, “It’s a city close to that Amsterdam country.” And it is due to the ignorance of some people who think the Netherlands is only Amsterdam. 😛
