- Paying Extra for A Dating Site
- Free or Paid Online Dating Site?
Could you get the oxymoron part on the title of this post?!
Like I’m actually mentioning two cents, but then my suggestion is not to pay for something. I mean, isn’t it a genius?! #punintended
But anyway, my post today will be back to the dating scheme since I just realized that it’s been awhile since the last time I posted anything related to dating or any beau topic in general. Not gonna blame you though, it’s been months since the last time I went out for a date with some random strangers that I met through a free dating site.
In fact, it’s been awhile since the last time I checked some of dating site accounts that I’ve got on several platforms. But one thing that they’ve got in common: I don’t bother to pay extra for a dating site.
Not that I’m giving up online dating, it’s just that I got a problem with my iPhone and I don’t have any online apps on my work phone. I’m thinking to buy a new phone for my personal use this month, so maybe I’m counting down the days to get back to the dating game?! But, anyway…
Paying Extra for A Dating Site
As someone who’s definitely in a demography of online dating business, I’ve got so many options to get an account on some free dating site. I mean, seriously, there are plenty of online dating sites that you could sign up for free, and I’ve met a lot of cool guys through the sites without having to pay a single penny.
Well, there are some logic that I would also agree, in which they mentioned about the fact that they don’t mind to pay extra for a dating site means that they seriously want to take dating into the next level. That would be an ideal thing to do if you want to get into a serious relationship.
The thing is, I have tried a lot of dating sites that I know which one that works for me and which one that don’t. And through some series of going out for a date with someone I met online, I’ve met those who got their account for free as well as those who actually paid extra to get some additional features.
Maybe it’s Tinder passport, or maybe they want to see who likes their profile on OKCupid. Or maybe the platform itself is not free like eHarmony. See, I’ve become an expert at dating more that I wanted me to be.
Through all experiences of dating, then why I still think that you shouldn’t pay extra for a dating site?! Here’s why!
Dating Itself Is Never Free, To Begin With…
Nope, I’m not talking about who’s gonna pay for dinner and whatnot. The thing is, to enter a dating game, you need to make some extra effort without having to pay for a dating site.
Sure, maybe that guy would have this kind of ego that insists you not to pay for the dinner you had together the first time you met each other. But then again, even though you don’t have to pay for the dinner, there are some stuff you need to pay from going out of your comfort zone and start seeing this person.
Well, maybe you need to spend some money for a subway to get to your meeting point to start with. But then the emotional value involved after the meeting matters too.
Maybe after that first meeting, you start to like this guy. It’s good when he reciprocates. But what if he doesn’t? There are times when they end up ghosting on you, leaving you some questions about what the heck was wrong with you that made them just go when you thought things went quite well.
I don’t know about you, but with that being said, I think I’d prefer to move on with a free dating site and hopefully find someone else without having to pay for the next month plan eh?!
Free or Paid Plan on A Dating Site, There is No Guarantee that Things Will Work Out The Way You Think It Should.
In an ideal world, of course you would meet someone online, you hit it off to decide a date somewhere and you both like each other even more. And things would go well and you both live happily ever after.
The thing is, a relationship with human is more complex than just a fairy tale. Sometimes you meet someone through online dating site, and then you hit it off. You spend some time with this guy you like, only to find out that you don’t share the same vision when it comes to your relationship.
When it happens, I suppose it’s better to think that you’ve just wasted your time with this person, rather than to also think about wasting money for a premium plan on the dating site to find this guy eh?!
I mean, I’ve met way too many guys who are on the dating sites solely for sex. I mean, I’m not gonna deny the fact that sex is good and I’m not a naysayer when it comes to one night stand, but then this could get you into such a complicated relationship in a way it’s not that easy to move on when you invest your time and feeling to that other person.
Believe me, when that happens, you would probably wish that these people would just go straight to sign up for sex sites rather than wasting your time like that.
After All, It’s Not the Premium Dating Service That Matters. It’s The Connection Between You and Your Potential ‘One’.
Knowing who likes your profile or getting unlimited super likes in a day, after all they all don’t really matter if you can’t genuinely connect with the person through a conversation.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through online dating sites, it is the fact that I have found real connection with people that I met through free online dating sites than those who actually paid for it. It feels more natural, as in there’s no pressure to make a connection just because you’ve already spent some money for it.
It’s like, premium plan: $10 per month. Genuine conversation, free and priceless at the same time.
Free or Paid Online Dating Site?
I’m not exactly in a rush when it comes to find someone online. So, as of now, I’m quite happy with the fact that I spend nothing to meet people online through some dating platforms that I’ve signed up for.
So far, I’ve met a lot of cool people. I mean, I’ve got disappointed by some others too but then again, life is not just about black and white.
Sure, if you’ve got extra budget for premium online on an online dating app, no one would stop you from paying to get extra features. But if you’re only there to test the water, I’d suggest you to enjoy the free feature first. The most important thing is to use the platform that suits you best, and let the chemistry do the rest.
Good luck! 😉
