Satisfy Your Cravings on Lyf&Spice!

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Another Friday, another series from yet another wander lover that I’d like to cover on our The Wander Lover Series: Worry. Story. Glory. feature.

This time, it’s Lyf&Spice‘s turn!

Written by a dreamer as well as foodie and travel freak, Lyf&Spice is here to celebrate 2 (two) main flavours of life for her – travel and food. I mean, I’m sure some of you are on the same page with her at some point right? At least I am. πŸ˜‰

The first time I landed on her page, my first impression was this: this blog is a big deal! πŸ˜€

It has received so many awards. Not only that it’s on the list of Top 30 Malaysia Travel Blog, but it’s also on the Top 30 Asia Travel Blog!

Aditi, The Beauty Behind Lyf&Spice

The woman behind the blog itself is the one and only Aditi Shukla, an expat from India who’s currently residing in Malaysia. She started the blog to document her expat life and travel stories.

The idea to call the blog Lyf&Spice is because according to Aditi, pretty much like ‘lyf’, life itself is such a twisted term. It looks different from every angle. Add some spice to it and what you get is a zesty life! πŸ˜€

lyfandspice2

So Lyf&Spice it is, a new angle to sprucing up life with some flavor and spice! πŸ˜€

By checking out her blog, I’ve found out that not only she blogs, but she has recently published her first book called Kota Bharu Kelantan Malaysia: 50 Travel Tips from a Local.

One word to sum up what travel means to Aditi: LIFE (or lyf? ;))

At first, seeing that she’s residing in Malaysia, I thought she would live in Kuala Lumpur. When she told me that she’s in Kota Bharu and it’s closer to Thailand, I never really thought about Kelantan.

I’m not so good at geography, at least not Malaysian part. So when I saw the title of the her book Kota Bharu Kelantan, I randomly recall Manohara and Kelantan prince scandal a few years ago. Excuse my Indonesian soul who can’t just get away with celebrity gossip! πŸ˜›

Lyf&Spice, Embracing The Spicy Life!

Aditi’s adventure around South East Asia is what has inspired her to start Lyf&Spice in the first place. Hence, her content is focusing on the region, especially the country that she’s currently staying: Malaysia.

When I checked out Lyf&Spice myself, what amazed me is that the blog’s content is quite versatile yet it still connects to the first purpose about how it wants to pursue the story-telling style about travel and food.

Even more, because not only that it offers you some review of recommended restaurants that would make you put them on your wishlist like this one for me, but Aditi also has some recipes to share for her readers on Lyf&Spice.

This blog is not only for those who love eating like me, but also for those who love to cook like my Mom as well! πŸ˜€

Must-Visit Place(s) According To Lyf&Spice

Being a versatile traveler herself, Aditi is open to any kind of traveling style.

Although she often travels as a couple with her husband, Amit, she’s also up to any chance to travel. Be it for solo traveling or traveling with a group.

When I asked her about her memorable traveling experience, her answer was a place that I’m looking into to visit some time next year: Siem Reap, Cambodia.

lyfandspice1

As she mentioned, Siem Reap amazed her with the well-preserved temples as well as historic structures. Through what it offers, Siem Reap helped them to connect with the history and culture of Cambodia better, as well as provoked deep thoughts like never before.

Okay, this one is interesting. Should I totally plan out Siem Reap for my birthday trip next year? *fingers crossed*

And spice-wise (?), Siem Reap also offers pub street and local eats despite the whole culture adventure. And that, my friends, is why I’m aiming Cambodia for my next trip. I mean, I still have 3 more countries to go to fulfil my wish of traveling the whole ASEAN before I hit the age of 30! πŸ˜€

Besides Siem Reap, Aditi would recommend Penang for anyone who’s planning to travel anywhere in South East Asia. Why? Because it is really diverse as well as suitable for any kind of travelers.

Are you solo traveler? Couple travelers? Traveling with family and kids? Penang is your next go-to! πŸ˜€

lyfandspice3

As a resident in Malaysia, she’s sure that Malaysia has a lot to offer. Even the capital city Kuala Lumpur can be an interesting object to visit if you know how to make theΒ most of your travel there.

What’s Next?Β

She is currently focusing on covering South East Asian as she’s planning to make the most of her stay in the region.Β After awhile, if she has to move out of the country, then maybe it’s time to expand her destination to travel. πŸ™‚

Seeing her plan is quite similar as mine, who knows if we could come across and do some other project someday somewhere right? πŸ˜‰

The BeauTraveler on Lyf&Spice

Actually, even before we got in touch for this project, I had already checked out her blog and I was in awe reading about the Harry Potter cafe. At first, I thought this one was located in Kuala Lumpur as I was genuinely planning to go there for my next visit.

But when Aditi told me that she’s based in Kota Bharu, well… That actually makes Kota Bharu as my next plan! πŸ˜€

Okay, so about Lyf&Spice, like I already mentioned before, the blog is quite versatile without forgetting its essential as food and travel blog.

I love how Aditi also posted some recipes to strengthen the spice on her blog. My favorite? Biryani!

This is what you get when you’re an Indonesian girl with the tendency of being desi. πŸ˜›

Also, since Aditi has mentioned about how she mostly travels with her husband Amit, despite her being the woman behind Lyf&Spice, she had also surprised her readers (me included!) with the piece that Amit has written!

Yeah, her husband writes the blog content occasionally too. I personally love his 8 Tips To Travel Smart. Totally agree on that one! πŸ˜€

Ummm, what else? I think that’s a wrap about Lyf&Spice, please do check out the blog here for more food and travel stories from Aditi and her husband Amit.

Ransel Ungu’s The Wander Lover Series feature will be posted again next Friday. Stay tuned and cheerio! πŸ˜€
